Sole sisters

Dec. 14—Reverb 10—Appreciate. What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it? (prompt author: Victoria Klein)

My running pack. Five of us women bonded in friendship through miles and blisters, smiles and tears, mud and sweat. We’ve saved thousands in therapy as we share our deepest joys, sorrows, fears and wonder with each footfall. Through failed marriages and new ones, teenage angst, mothers’ guilt, childhood tantrums, great sex, no sex, extra pounds, lost pounds, baby lust, cancer, three dogs over the rainbow, broken bones, road trips, shopping, pre-dawn race mornings, many finish lines, too many bottles of wine to remember, milestone birthdays, fabulous meals, job changes and that wonderful cup of coffee or latte at Peet’s at the end of a weekend run.

Friends are the family you choose; these women are my sole sisters. And soul sisters! I tell them I love them, I try to listen as much as I talk, I make them laugh and I keep my heart open for them always. They always have for me.

S, B, R and A–you know who you are and I LOVE YOU! Thanks for being a big part of my life!

  1. T, thanks for capturing our experiences together so eloquently. Traveling this journey (literally and figuratively) with you and the gang has been one of the most rewarding of my life. Running truly is therapy. Hugs and kisses,
